[PS032] QuickBooks is having trouble installing your payroll update.
The Help Button gives me another window that opens and says:
We couldn’t find that answer for you
Use the Back button to try again.
I've done EVERYTHING that is suggested in the Payroll Support Community and such.
I even did this Database rebuild / QB Tool Hub . . .
My Payroll was updating just fine up through 22212.
Trying to update to 22213 I get the message - [PS032] QuickBooks is having trouble installing your payroll update.
I'm even running QuickBooks Accountant Desktop 2022 as Administrator.
I did screen share with Payroll Support and Josh Will couldn't fix it. He said he'd need to refer it to the backend people. His follow-up email left much to be desired. I ask that he email the fix when it happens. He said he would, but I doubt it the way he jump out of our Chat conversation.
NO REMEDY !!!! He considers the problem solved, but he didn't solve it. He said he was going to check with others to get a solution and get back to me . .
Josh's follow-up email:
Thanks so much for contacting us.
It was fantastic talking with you and assisting you with your issue.
Just wanted to check on you if everything is okay now with your concern.
You can reply to this message if you still have a concern or contact us again through our in-product help.
Please note the case ID I created on this matter: [Removed]

This isn't the impression that we want you to have, @Sharon531. I'll guide you through the troubleshooting procedures to fix the error.
There are various possible reasons why you're getting this error when installing payroll updates in QuickBooks Desktop. Before taking any steps to isolate the issue, I suggest creating a backup of your company file. This way, you can restore data files easily in case you run into problems. Then, close all the open applications including QuickBooks.
After that, reopen QuickBooks by pressing Windows+R to open the Run window. Then update the tax table from the by entering "update the payroll tax table" from the rectangular box. This helps maintain the paycheck calculation compliance. You'll just have to follow the onscreen steps until the update is complete.
Additionally, see this guide to manage the billing: Change your credit card for payroll billing. It's possible that the billing details are incorrect/outdated. You may also have to rename the CPS Folder. Here's how:
- Press the Windows key + E to open the file explorer.
- Click on This PC.
- Navigate to the Local Disk C.
- Run Program Files (x86), then the Intuit folder.
- Access your QuickBooks Desktop folder that matches the version you’re using.
- Click on Components, then Payroll folder.
- Right-click the CPS folder, then choose Rename. Enter a new folder name, then press the Enter key to successfully rename it.
Lastly, disable User Account Control by setting it up to the Never Notify option. Please note: It may be necessary to disable UAC when resolving QuickBooks Desktop issues, but it is strongly recommended that you enable it again to protect against security concerns on your computer.
Once done, download/update the latest payroll one more time by restarting QuickBooks.
If you're all good and you'd want to prepare your payroll tax payments and forms, browse this guide for reference: Pay and file payroll taxes and forms manually in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Hi there, Smith. I appreciate you for letting us know that you're having the same issue on your end and your efforts in trying every possible way to get this resolved. I'll gladly share some troubleshooting steps to get this isolated and get you back in working order.
If you encounter payroll errors when downloading the payroll updates, you may see different error messages on your screen. The error code PS032 is caused by one of the following reasons:
- The tax table file is corrupted or there is an invalid in the components/payroll folder.
- If the QuickBooks company files are corrupted or damaged.
- Another reason can be if you aren’t registered in QuickBooks.
- The billing details are out of date and it might be corrupt.
To rectify this, make sure to update your QuickBooks Desktop to its latest release. Here's how to manually update your QuickBooks Desktop:
- Go to Help and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
- Select Update Now, and tick the Reset Update.
- Select Get Updates.
- When the update finishes, close and reopen QuickBooks.
- When asked to install the update, select Yes.
It's also recommended to update your payroll tax table to its latest release. If the same thing happens, I recommend running QuickBooks repair in case of damage to company files, or also due to some technical glitches of the software. For the detailed process, check out this link: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
Moreover, please ensure that your billing information is correct and appropriate since this also triggers such an error.
I'm adding this article for your future reference to learn how to prepare and print your payroll tax payments and forms so you can file them manually with the IRS and state agencies: Pay and file payroll taxes and forms manually in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.
Keep us posted about the result after performing the suggested process. Feel free to leave a reply below. We'd be glad to assist in every we can.

Not sure if this issue is still persisting for anyone but I did find a way for QB desktop enterprise to let me install the most recent payroll update.
File > Log out
File > Open / Restore Backup
Select a backup to restore that was made after the release date of the most recent QB payroll update but before you noticed the update will not download. (Mine was about a week old)
When you restore it will ask you to name your company file, be sure to CHANGE the file name to include the backup date so you do not write over your current company file. You are only restoring to perform the update!
Once the restoration has been performed:
Employees > Get Payroll Updates
Don't forget to be patient during this process it takes FOREVER!!!
Once the update has installed close the backup file and reopen your original file.
Go to Employees > Get Payroll updates to ensure the tax table number is still updated to the most recent version.

Thank you for your prompt response. I appreciate you following the steps outlined in this thread, @ALG8983. Allow me to offer additional troubleshooting measures to resolve the PSO32 error and install the payroll update.
To ensure a successful installation of the payroll update and fix error PS032 in QuickBooks Desktop, it is recommended to disable the User Account Control (UAC) and any anti-virus software. Then, ensure that QuickBooks is run as an administrator by right-clicking on the application.
To temporarily disable UAC for the current session only, follow these steps:
- Close QuickBooks.
- Right-click on the QuickBooks icon in the desktop window.
- You can also go to Start > All Programs and right-click on the QuickBooks icon.
- Select Run as administrator.
- A pop-up window will appear asking if you will allow the program to make changes to the computer select Yes.
- The program will open like normal. UAC controls for this session have been disabled temporarily.
- If you close out the window and open IE again like normal, UAC controls will default to active.
For more details about turning on/off UAC, follow this article: Change User Account Control (UAC) in Windows.
Then, you may perform the updates again, please follow the steps below:
- Go to Help and click Update QuickBooks Desktop.
- From the Update Now tab, check the Reset Update tick box.
- Click the Get Updates button. On the pop-up, select OK.
Once the reset update is done, please restart your QuickBooks Desktop. When you reopen it and the QuickBooks Update Service appears, click Install Now. Then, let's update now your tax table:
- Go to the Employees menu and select Get Payroll Updates.
- Make sure that the Download Entire Update is checked.
- Click Download Latest Update.
For detailed information on the steps above, see these links:
- Get the latest payroll news and updates in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll
- Get the latest tax table update in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll
However, if the issue persists after trying the steps above, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They have tools such as screen-sharing (remote access) that can pull up your account in a secure environment and check the cause of this odd behavior. They can also try other troubleshooting steps if necessary. To reach them, see this article: Contact Payroll Support.
I'm also adding these articles that tackle processing paychecks and running payroll reports in QBDT:

Hi,
Here are the steps I followed to resolve the issue.
1. Back up Quickbooks Desktop.
2. Go to your control panel to uninstall Quickbooks Desktop. (Note: If uninstallation rolls back continuously, uninstall the Quickbooks Tool Hub application).
3. Login to your Intuit account and download your Quickbooks Desktop.
4. Install the downloaded Quickbooks Desktop and enter your license information.
5. Under Custom and Network options, select "I'll be using Quickbooks Desktop on this computer."
6. Next, select Install. You may have to complete steps 4 through 6 twice. And on the second attempt, select repair.
7. After installation is complete, restore QuickBooks Desktop from back up.
8. Enter your Admin password.
9. Under the Employees tab, select Get Payroll Updates.
10. Make sure Download entire payroll update is selected and press update.
This will help others who are experiencing the same issue.
