Buy nowI have some products and services that I need to update the purchase description on. For example, let's say my purchase description says "Super Widget 2 pack - 20 packs per carton" and I want to update it to "Super Widget 2 pack - 10 packs per carton".
When I make the edit and click save, QBO refuses to save and instead gives me an error message.
I have tried I don't even know how many times to have support help. Clearing cache doesn't help. Opening in another browser or incognito mode doesn't help. Sharing my screen with them and having them watch while I replicate the error message over and over again doesn't help. Creating a case and having their internal team take a look and try to fix it doesn't help. This problem has been going on since September of last year and I haven't had one person able to tell me how to fix this.
I hear you, @Teodoro42. I also appreciate for taking action on performing troubleshooting steps and contacting our team to fix this issue as soon as possible. Let me direct you to the best help for this.
Before anything else, I'd like to know what specific error is shown when you try to save the edited purchase description so we'll be able to determine what resolution to give.
In the meantime, I suggest reaching out to our Live Phone Support Team again to review the issue you raised with regard to updating your purchase description. Also, I recommend providing the case number to avoid repeating the details and save you time.

Hi Bryan,
Thank you for reaching out. When I try to save, a notification with an exclamation mark in a red triangle at the top appears and says "We couldn't save your item. Something went wrong. Please try again later." I have been trying again later since last September with no success.
Same with me. I have been struggling with this since December. I am unable to update purchase descriptions manually. I am also unable to Export QBO CSV, change information on that and import back into QBO without getting the "Something went wrong, try again later" message. It is very frustrating.

Hello Dandie! I appreciate you reaching out. However, similar to the original poster, I have attempted to get this resolved via QBO tech support. I continue to receive emails from the support team saying that the engineers are still working to try to fix the issue and that there isn't an estimated timeline. Meanwhile we are unable to effectively use this product. My intent in posting was with the hopes that if enough of us as users are experiencing the same issue and post alongside the original user about it that this will get someone's attention at Intuit who can see it through to completion sooner. Again, thank you for reaching out.
Jumping into this conversation --
We're trying to implement a price increase for 4,000+ Product SKUs and QuickBooks Online is giving me the same error when I try to import a csv file. "Something went wrong. Try again later." Extremely frustrating when this has a huge financial impact on our company. I've been trying to import the files since mid-May and have no luck with contact from the customer service team.
Has there been any progress made on this issue?
@AmericanTent We understand how frustrating it is to encounter an error when trying to implement such an important update for your business, especially when it's been ongoing for a while.
We've escalated your issue regarding the CSV import error for your product SKUs to our Next Level Help team. They will carefully review your Community comments and support history to understand the full context. You can expect to hear from one of our experts soon with next steps.
Today (June 19, 2025) was the first time since the fall of 2024 that I was able to finally successfully export my products and services list, update my price changes and import them back into QBO without getting the error "something went wrong, try again later". Here is hoping that all the other types of imports we might try to do are fixed. Good luck to all.
Hi Support team,
I face the same problems today. May I know how to solve it, please advise. Thank you.
Did you receive the same error message when updating the purchase description or when importing a CSV file, qbo-serene?
If so, I recommend clearing your browser's cache to remove accumulated historical data that might be interfering with the functionality of QuickBooks Online (QBO). This ensures that your browser loads fresh data directly from the server.
You can also use other supported browsers to check if the issue is browser-specific. QuickBooks Online works best with browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari.
If the error persists even after doing the suggested approach, it's best to contact our Phone Support team for further assistance and advanced troubleshooting. They can help identify the root cause of the issue, whether it's related to your account, specific data, browser settings, or QBO functionality.
Once everything's fine, you can generate reports to keep track of the status of your sales and inventory.
Please let us know in the comments below if you have additional questions or concerns. We'd be glad to further assist.
