Buy nowIt seems that ShipEngine is the third-party service coordinating the data between QB and the carrier. We have negotiated rates with FedEx and UPS, so would like to use these rates.
We usually ship and then add the tracking number and a cost in the invoice. How would this be done with Shipping Manager when the Invoice is done after the shipment.
Will we be able to continue after May 31 with the current shipping screens? Lots of unknowns not found on the resources pages.
Hi there,
Yes, you can indeed use Shipping Manager in QuickBooks Desktop without relying on ShipEngine. Let me share more information and address all your questions one by one.
Since you've negotiated your own rates with FedEx and UPS, you can directly utilize those rates within QBDT's Shipping Manager. You'll need to configure your carrier accounts with your negotiated rates within the Shipping Manager settings. This will allow you to generate shipping labels and track shipments using your pre-existing agreements.
You mentioned your workflow involves shipping first and then creating the invoice with tracking and cost information. Here's how you can handle shipments before invoices:
Regarding the continuity of your current shipping screens after May 31, it's important to understand the implications of discontinued QuickBooks Desktop services. For QuickBooks Desktop versions that are discontinued, online services will cease to function. However, if you are utilizing a supported version of QBDT, such as QBDT 2023 or earlier, you will still be able to utilize the core shipping features. Additionally, here's an article about shipping manager with frequently asked questions in QBDT: Intuit QuickBooks Shipping Manager.
For in depth and specific configuration of your shipping setup, as it involves privacy related information, I would strongly recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support team. They can provide detailed technical assistance and ensure your shipping setup is configured correctly based on your specific needs and QuickBooks Desktop version.
Moreover, you can also consider setting up and managing your inventory as it can help with your shipping, let me add this article as a reference: Set up Advanced Inventory in QuickBooks Desktop.
Let me know if you have additional concerns besides shipping management in QBDT. I'm always here to help.
Thank you for the answers. We look forward to installing it.

I am a little lost with this new Shipping Experience. I have QB 2023 Desktop Pro Premier and I use the installed Shipping Manager to ship via UPS, FedEx and USPS with my negotiated rates. After May 31 will I be able to ship via my QuickBooks? If not what is the best way to ship so that all my data is kept in one place?
You may no longer have access to the shipping feature as of May 31, Childtreas.
Since you are utilizing QuickBooks Desktop 2023 Pro or Premier and depending on the installed Shipping Manager for shipping with UPS, FedEx, and USPS at your negotiated rates, you will no longer have shipping capabilities as of May 31. To continue using these features seamlessly, I recommend upgrading to QuickBooks Desktop 2024, which will restore shipping functionality and enhance your overall experience.
Additionally, I want to clarify that we don't have a definitive answer on whether your data will automatically transfer to the new shipping engine or if it will need to be entered manually. We need to consult with the dedicated team for more information on this. I'll ensure to update you on this thread before May 31 regarding shipping through QuickBooks and how to keep your data organized.

Hello. This is just starting to pop up for me, I've got QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 24.0 Desktop.
How can we start using the new shipping experience without setting up a ShipEngine account, or new USPS account? I already have all my shipping accounts, but I can't seem to get through initial set up without this wanting to create a new account for me.
A new USPS account will be created for you when setting up Shipping Manager, Kate.
I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Live Support team to determine if you can use your old shipping accounts. They're equipped with the necessary tools and resources to thoroughly assist you.

I do not want a new USPS account.
No one is going to want all new UPS, FedEx and USPS accounts set up for their business. I can't understand why Intuit thinks they should force this on folks?
If this is the only way, I will go back to shipping externally again. Unfortunate that integrated shipping seems to be going away, and QB is getting LESS functional.
I tried to chat just like its described above and the technician had no idea what I was talking about and did not know that the old shipping manager is retired as of may 31 2025. Im having an issue where even after being forced to create the shipengine account with USPS, I cant add my FEDEX nor my UPS carriers into shipengine.
When inputting all the correct fedex info it states:
"An error occurred while registering the carrier. Please confirm the details below and try again."
When trying to add UPS: upon entering the acc number, postal code and country code, a "Connect carrier popup" window appears to log into ups, when I enter the user name we have associated with ups and press next, I get this error message:
Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "http://www.ups.com/lasso/login" on this server.

The chat technician simply said:
I have consulted our backend team and it seems that it will be best to contact Shipengine for this process and for further information.

Fantastic
I attempted to use the new shipping manager but not getting the correct negotiated rates for my UPS account. I have checked and rechecked all entered information and it is correct but the rates to ship using UPS and almost 3x higher than I normally pay. What do I need to do to fix this? This issue is creating serious issues for me in my time management. We process orders all day and it is taking much longer than we are used to because we can no longer use UPS through QB. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.
You will continue receiving the negotiated rate when you integrate your UPS account with QuickBooks Desktop, KellJohn. By providing your account number during the UPS registration in QuickBooks, you will have the option to view them in QuickBooks Shipping Manager.
It is possible that a different UPS rate has been set in the Rates setting. This influences the UPS rate chart to calculate rate the Estimate Cost. Here's how to correct it:
Please note that regardless of the rate type selected in Settings, the actual charges on your UPS invoice will be based on your account-specific rates. You can call 1-800-PICK-UPS to determine the rate type applicable to your specific UPS account.
To know more about the UPS and QuickBooks Shipping Manager integration, I'd recommend going to the UPS Specific Questions under FAQs of this article: Intuit QuickBooks Shipping Manager.
From there, you should be able to create invoices with the accurate rates and effortlessly receive payments from your customers.
Let me know if you have additional queries so we can further assist you.
Your suggested steps apply to the old shipping manager, NOT the new ShipEngine. This entire rollout has been another blunder by Intuit. We've wasted so much time troubleshooting with support who never seem to be on the same page.
Our UPS account is connected to the new ShipEngine Shipping Manager and we're seeing rates 2x-3x higher than our negotiated rates.
Same issue, Intuit doesn't appear to have any solutions or answers.
