QB Desktop for Mac 2022 crashing before logging in
We have two companies that we use the desktop version of QB for. We were using the 2020 version and it was working great until yesterday. I would input my password, hit enter, and get the spinny ball of death. I tried numerous times with the same outcome and would always have to force quit QB.
I tried updating my iOS. Same issue continued. Then we upgraded to QB desktop for Mac 2022 (I think it's called Mac Plus) hoping that might fix the issue but no. Now, I try to open a company, it tells me that I need to upgrade the file to the 2022 version so I do then I try to login and it crashes so I can't even get into any of my companies.
Everything else I've found to try is only for Windows computers and not for Macs.
Help!!

No. I tried opening the sample service and sample product files and I got the crash catcher for both of them.

Try reinstalling your QBD program. If the same error persists, consider to utilize the trial version for QBD 2021 to compare.

Hi there, @tc2.
Let's get your QuickBooks working fine again so you can continue your task.
I'll elaborate how you can uninstall and reinstall the program as what @Fiat Lux - ASIA instructed.
QuickBooks Desktop for Mac releases updates to improve the program functionality. You can fix the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Before we start, you need to make sure the system is updated to its latest release.
In case you're using the CD to install the product, make sure you have it handy along with your license numbers.
Once ready, follow these steps to uninstall:
- Close QuickBooks.
- Go to the Finder menu.
- Select Go Applications.
- Drag the QuickBooks icon to the Trash.
- Reinstall the latest version.
After that, reinstall the latest version. Here's how:
- Go to QuickBooks Product Updates.
- Select your QuickBooks Desktop version.
- Click Download to download the installer file to your computer.
- Double-click the downloaded .dmg file.
- Drag the QuickBooks Desktop icon to the Applications folder to install. Then, restore your company file in QuickBooks.
You can verify the update by pressing the Cmd+1.
If the issue persists after performing the steps above, you can do a clean install. This refreshes QuickBooks with the installation files that were left behind during the re-installation process. For the detailed steps, kindly refer to this article: Reinstall QuickBooks for Mac using clean install.
Please let me know how it goes. I'll be around to help if you have any other concerns. Have a good one.

Thank you for the assistance. I tried the steps you provided (including the clean reinstall) and continue to have the issue of QB crashing after I hit the login button. I tried opening a sample file again and it crashed right away, too. I am completely unable to access my companies.

Quickbooks and Macs do not talk. They do not work together and I highly recommend trying!
I have tried new Mac’s twice with quickbooks and inevitably end up wasting time,(months) and having to reload information, besides the fact of getting thrown out of the program.
quickbooks is expensive! It’s a waste to buy it for Mac because quickbooks doesn’t know what they are doing w a Mac!
