I have not seen that Intuit/QBs has fixed this major BUG yet. So DO go to Help and send in a Problem comment to them. (This one ranks right up there with some of the other "they did what???" things they've done.)
I really don't know if it will work, but you might enter the Post Office's address in as the Physical Address, then in the next line add "Box xxxx" If that doesn't work, try it without the "Box" in there, just the number.
Again... Speculation on my part, but I'd think the PO would figure out what you're doing. But then again, it is the PO (regretfully not meant as a joke).

Good evening, @lynnimplementrep.
I appreciate you coming here with your concern about not being able to add a PO Box to your employee's information.
After researching further on this problem, I've discovered that our Support Team can add the PO Box address for you when contacting them. Here's how:
- Go to the Help icon in the top right-hand corner.
- Hit the Contact Us button.
- Enter your issue or question and tap Let's talk.
- Scroll down and select to Get a callback.
It's that easy!
Please, reach back out after getting in touch with them to keep us updated. It's my priority that you get your employee's PO Box added in QuickBooks Online. Bye for now!

It would just be easier if the bug was fixed.

And when you say, "it's just that easy," what you seem to mean is "spend some time on the line with support, instead of just being able to make the most rudimentary change in an employee profile BY TYPING IT IN! ARGGGGGGH. I'm frustrated with answers that indicate that bugs in the system will never be fixed.

One last thing. I just spent 30 minutes on the line with support to change an employee's address to a P.O. Box. Might be easy - BUT IT WASTES A LOT OF MY TIME!!

How did you get an employee's address to be listed as a PO Box? I have called in and they told me to contact the IRS to get a compliant address???
Thanks for any help.

It's not an IRS thing, it's a QBs thing.
Yes, the IRS really tries to get a physical address. But there are still parts of the country that do not have door-to-door mail delivery. So... You have a Post Office Box and the IRS accepts that.

This is such a frustrating bug that would be SO EASY for QB to fix. Sitting on the phone or chatting with someone for half an hour to put in an employee address is ridiculous. And then if I try to add an email address to an employee with a PO Box I have to call in AGAIN to have them do that for me. It's such a waste of time.

I called support and they made the change on their end. If the person says it can't happen, call back and talk to someone else. For the record , both people I talked to had no idea what a PO Box was. I had to explain it to them.

Since a Quickbooks representative chimed in on this thread to let us know how easy it was for a support person to make these changes, I think it would be fair for them to reply to the concerns that we have to call and waste time on support to make basic changes to employee profiles. I do not take any comfort that we have to call support - I want to know that it will be fixed. To tell us to continue to call support as the final answer is patronizing.

I type in POBox #### then QBO says "Did you mean PO Box ####". I say yes and it goes right in.

Kelly at QB payroll was able to update the employee's address to a PO Box on her end. I could not do it using QB online, but she was able. The first agent was not aware she could do this. But, Kelly did. Thanks so much to Kelly!!

To be clear, though, this is a PROBLEM with QB software. We need both a home address and mail to address for our employees.

Ok - I'm really glad that the problem got solved for the user - but while you are celebrating how great your customer service team is, remember this user had to call back twice just to change information in an employee profile. Please, instead of only responding when someone says thank you (and I have no problem with someone saying thank you), please respond to the majority of comments here that acknowledge that you have a bug that needs to be fixed and information on when we might expect this bug to be remedied.

Navigate to Edit the employee's "Personal Info" section.
First enter the City, State and Zip
Then for Street Address type in "POBox ####" (no space between "PO" and "Box"). Click on "Save."
QBO suggests an alternative address "PO Box ####" in that City, State and Zip. Click on "Save" to accept.
Good to go!

Hi ALL! I found a hack for this issue. When entering the PO Box address, I put in POB(space)(# of box) and when I went to save it it gave me an auto corrected address of the PO Box (##) written out the correct way. Hope that helps!

I just got it to work, I typed in "Box #" and then it asked me to confirm address, I clicked save & it put in "PO Box xx", so definitely a system glitch, but worth trying just "Box xxx" and seeing if you can get it to work as I was able to!
Gotta love QB's lack of testing and time to address issues, LOL

This isn't a reasonable solution to such a simple problem.

I've tried entering the address as POB 731. We'll see if that works. It's lunacy we can't use PO Boxes because we live in a rural area and many of our employees don't have mail boxes...
