Buy nowI have QB 2020 on two computers. I was asked to update. After successfully updating QB disappeared from both computers. Uninstalled and tried to reinstall. No success. Anybody have any ideas? I'm running three businesses and this is very disconcerting.
Did you encounter any error message when try to reinstall it?
Yes,
1603 and 1904.
Said to download QB tool hub.
I did that and nothing.
Uninstalled and downloaded and reinstalled.
QB does not load.
Appreciate any input.

Hi there, @Mleos.
I appreciate you performing some troubleshooting steps to fix your issue with updating QuickBooks Desktop. But worry, I've come with a solution that can help you resolve it.
The errors you've mentioned mean that there was a problem installing Microsoft .NET Framework. Running the QuickBooks Tool Hub is the first step in resolving the installation issue of QuickBooks. Since it doesn't work, let's update your windows to prevent installation errors. To do so, you can follow the steps below:
If you get the same result, I recommend fixing the components of your windows manually. If you're not familiar with it, I suggest seeking help from an IT professional. I'll add these articles for guidance:
Once you're all good, you can now continue working with QuickBooks Desktop and entering your transactions as you usually do.
Please let me know how the troubleshooting goes, @Mleos. I'll be around to provide further assistance.
I have had the same problem. Done all the steps to fix and still nothing. Quickbooks Pro 2020. Was working great until this new update. How do I roll the update back? I don't need something that does not work.
I am using windows 7 Pro, I know its not supported anymore..... but again, it was working until Yesterday, it has taken this long to get my PC running again after having to restore to an earlier time. Please someone at quickbooks reply asap!
Hi there, @gggross.
I recognize you want to revert to the previous set-up of your company in QuickBooks Desktop. I'm here to provide information about the topic.
The software developer will release updates for QuickBooks regularly, adding new features and fixing bugs and issues with previous versions. While there is no way to remove these updates automatically, you can manually remove them by uninstalling and reinstalling the software.
Furthermore, I suggest updating your Windows to meet the system requirements to have a better experience in navigating files. For now, this the best option we have for regaining access to your company.
Learn what your computer requires to provide the best QuickBooks Desktop experience in this article: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2020.
In addition, to ensure that your Windows 7 PC is up to date with the latest Microsoft Windows updates follow the steps below:
You can always count on me if you need more help with your company files or with QBDT. Keep me posted by tagging me in your reply. Keep safe and have a good one!
If you have a supported QBD version (i.e QBD 2020) , you should run on a supported Windows OS (i.e Win 8 or 10). If your computer has enough RAM, you should upgrade to Win 10 Home. You can purchase the license with a cheap price (i.e $50 or less)
I too lost QB 2020 Desktop Pro when it forced an update on me on Friday. I got Error 1904 "Module failed to register". The program is still on my machine but will not open. I am running Win7.
Has anyone had success in resolving this issue and what was the solution? I use QB to write checks and so cannot pay any of my company bills.
I can imagine what you must be going through, fsbridger.
Not to worry, I'm here to help you fix this error message.
Let's install and run the QuickBooks Tool Hub on your computer. This helps fix common errors. For the best experience, we recommend using the tool on Windows 10, 64-bit. Here's how:
Then, I'd suggest running the Quickbooks Install Diagnostic tool. This automatically diagnoses and fixes issues with Microsoft components the QuickBooks program uses. I'll show you how:
If the issue persists, I'd recommend following Solution 2 in this article: Fix Error 1904.
In case none of these fixes the error, please contact our QuickBooks Support Team. They're equipped with tools to check the cause. It'll also allow them to submit a ticket to our engineering team to alert them about the issue if necessary.
Additionally, I've added an article that'll help you manage your vendor transactions in QuickBooks Desktop. This keeps your books accurate: Expenses and Vendors.
Keep me posted on how the steps fix the error message. I'm always here if you need further assistance. Wishing you continued success!

Thank you for your assistance. I have been out with pneumonia but got back and tried the fixes today. The Quickbooks Tool Hub ran a load of repairs but did not fix my problem. I went to the "fix error 1904" and repaired .NET Framework 4.8 (I did not see the earlier ones, 3.5 etc, referenced) but that did not fix my QuickBooks Pro Desktop either. I will try your support team next.
