Buy nowI've got some information regarding the amended 1099 using QuickBooks Online (QBO), Amanda.
If you e-file your 1099 forms using QBO, after January 2024, you can submit your amended 1099 forms via QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Contractor Payments, or QuickBooks Payroll. Since this feature will be available after January 2024, there are no further instructions yet.
However, in all other years, and if you need to change your information immediately, you'll need to amend your 1099 manually to the IRS. Use these IRS instructions to do so. After the 1099 is corrected, you'll need to provide the corrected return to the recipient or contractor yourself.
You can access this material to learn more about how to make corrections to 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms after you e-filed them: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.
Furthermore, if you want to print your 1099, you can refer to this material: Print your 1099 and 1096 forms.
If you have further information or concerns, please leave a comment below. I'm always around to help.
Is there more information on when the QBO feature to amend 1099s will be available besides "after January"?
Hello there, ekeys23.
Let me join the thread and provide information about amending the 1099 form.
Once the 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC is submitted, the 1099 correction flow will be available in early February after the IRS accepts your forms. You'll also receive an email for your filing status.
In addition, you can check your filing status anytime within your QBO account.
To do this, here's how:

Let me know in the comments if you have other 1099 concerns in QBO. I'm always around to help. Have a great day!
Hello, I have the same question as the original author but I'm not seeing how to do this. QBO support reads as follows: For 2023 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms: If you e-file your 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC with us, beginning in 2024, you can submit amended 1099 forms through QuickBooks Online. Check back later for instructions.
I'm looking for these instructions. The IRS has accepted the 1099-NEC I submitted, but the amount I had on it is incorrect. I've fixed the error in QBO and now I need to refile an amended form. Please advise.
I understand the importance of correcting 1099, ewolaner.
The ability to submit amended 1099 forms through QuickBooks Online (QBO) will be available after January. However, the specific instructions are not yet released.
We currently do not have any updates on when the option to submit amended 1099 forms will be available in QBO. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
For more details, check this link: Correct or change 1099.
Additionally, you can submit the amended form manually outside QuickBooks. For additional information, please see this guide from the IRS: General Instructions for Certain Information Returns, Part H. It contains the steps to perform when discovering an error after filing a return.
Furthermore, I've included this article to help answer the most commonly asked questions about 1099s in QuickBooks: Get answers to your 1099 questions.
You may want to print your 1099 forms in QBO to get a physical copy for record-keeping.
Let me know if you need additional guidance with your 1099 filing in QuickBooks. We'll be more than glad to offer assistance. Take care.
This is extremely frustrating. "After January" is not an acceptable answer. Neither is "submit manually", as due to the update IRS regulations, we cannot submit manually when filing more than 10 informational returns in 2023. I am required to e-file, and now I need to correct a 1099, but I cannot, and there seems to be no resolution to this in QBO. Please give EXACT guidance on when this feature will be available. QBO should not be offering a service until they have complete functionality of it.
When EXACTLY will the amended/corrected feature be available? Most users cannot manually correct anything now, as the IRS regulations require us to e-file everything if over 10 informational returns in 2023. This is something QBO should have been on top of and not offered a service if it did not have full functionality. My 1099s are showing as accepted, but there is NO option to do a correction. Please let us know when EXACTLY (not "after January") that this will be available.
I appreciate you joining the thread. I understand your frustration regarding this matter.
We currently do not have the exact time frame on when the option to submit amended 1099 forms will be available in QBO. I appreciate your understanding.
As my colleague stated above, QuickBooks provides a variety of e-filing options. In your case, you may file your 1099s directly with the IRS. After correcting the 1099, you must personally provide the corrected return to the recipient or contractor.
I'm adding these articles you can use in the future:

I understand that a corrected copy must be provided to the contractor, and that could be done manually, but it must also be done to the IRS, and the new IRS regulations require that every business with over 10 informational returns use e-filing, which means I need to be able to electronically amend the 1099 to submit it to them. I cannot manually provide it to the contractor without addressing it to the IRS as well, and going to the IRS it must be an e-file due to their updated regulations. This is something QBO is well aware of on the new e-filing requirements so why is the ability to correct through e-filing not available yet, and again, WHEN will it be available? This is extremely disappointing that QBO sold a service that was actually incomplete and not valid with the updated IRS regulations for e-filing.
Same question as above...when will the option be available to make corrections to 1099's
I understand the importance of keeping your tax documents accurate and am here to help you, summitupllc. Let me share further details about it.
QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Contractor Payments, and QuickBooks Online Payroll have specific limitations on the types of corrections they support. For instance, if there is an incorrect address, there is no need to issue a corrected 1099.
If you really want to correct it, I suggest contacting the IRS directly for more detailed guidance. They'll be able to provide the specific steps you need to take.
I recommend checking this helpful article for a detailed guide on the process: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.
Additionally, you can generate 1099 reports in QuickBooks to show you the details of who needs to receive 1099s, their payment totals, and other relevant information.
The guidance provided helps you manage your 1099 forms confidently and accurately. If you have any more questions or need further assistance with this process, please don't hesitate to comment below. We're here to ensure everything runs smoothly for you.
Are the company representatives even reading the messages from users? It has been stated multiple times that we are not seeing the option to correct the 1099s and the same information is being repeated continuously by QB reps. We understand that we must go to Taxes->1099 Filings->Correct. However, they are still showing accepted and not allowing us the option to correct the 1099. We need to know when this will be available. When I contacted QB directly I was told this would be available the first of February. Now it's February 5th and there is still no option to correct. This is a huge issue with QB that needs to be resolved so we can provide the 1099s to our contractors as required by law.
Amendments to your 1099 tax forms will be available in February 2025, Chrys2. Although we currently don't have a specific time frame for when this workflow will be accessible in the program, you can reach out to our next support team for follow-up.
Since the Community is a public forum and we'll need additional details to verify this further, you can contact our Live Expert Team to help amend 1099 files. Here's how you can reach them out:

Today is Feb.10, they are still showing accepted and not allowing us the option to correct the 1099. We need to know when this will be available.
NOT FIXABLE??? I have to correct a 1099's payee name and followed Quickbooks instructional video. Well, the 1099s are "accepted" by the IRS but the "correct" button is missing. Instead, it just says "view" which allows me to view the incorrect 1099. I called Quickbooks and they said someone will call me back (not fix it, but return my call) in 2 days and that the IRS is catching up on tax filings which is why the "correct" button doesn't show. What a load of bull! It reads "accepted" from the IRS! She kept reading the same line over and over to me. She said she IS technical support and there is no next level of tech support. Furthermore, a supervisor will tell me the exact same thing she did. Useless. Very polite, but useless. She kept repeating "you don't have to worry". Um, yes I do. She kept saying this problem will be fixed in 2-3 weeks. WEEKS! This is unbelievable. Anyone run into this issue? And get it fixed?

AND NOW...I get this: "Correcting the recipient name or TIN is currently unavailable. We are actively working to enable this feature." They are giving ZERO information when calling to inquire. Only giving me this investigation number: INV-119950. which states nothing. No time frame. No other info on how to fix elsewhere. NOTHING. This entire process has been a complete sh**show. IF QBO isn't going to offer the entire process, offer nothing.
OH! FYI. IRS requires amendments to come as originally filed, paper or electronically.
