Seconded!  most of my payments are online -- very, very few do I write checks for.  No default would be better than a check default.  Even now with the check default I have to go back to the checkbook and make sure it is the right number. 

I'm running several accounts and the check default with the sequential check# shows up on my Petty Cash account so if I am not paying attention it messes me up.  For me, if you had a different default for each account it would work better than this.

It is now 2025.  Time to bring the software up to date with the way we currently do business.
