Let me help you with this, jhans6.

It might be that your company file is stored in a different location. Thus, you're unable to see it when you open your QB Mac.

Let's locate the company file to check if you've open a different one:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Click on File Finder Window.
  3. Click on Documents on the All My Files page.
  4. Look for the file on the Documents page or search the company name on the search field.

Once you've located your company file, follow these steps to restore:

  1. Go to the File menu, then click Restore Company.
  2. Select Restore a Backup File, then click Next.
  3. Hit the Local backup.
  4. Select the company file, then click Next.
  5. Choose the location where to save the restored file.
  6. Hit Save.

Furthermore, make sure to create a location in which you store a copy of your company file. This will make it easier for you to locate them in the future.

Here's an article on how to backup your company file: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac company file.

Please let me know how it goes so I can assist you further.
