When you sort the Chart of Accounts by account type, the account numbers should automatically follow, denisek. Let me add additional information to help you.

 

Since the order is off on your end, let's check if your browser might be causing the issue. I encourage you to perform some basic troubleshooting steps. Often, outdated cached files can lead to such errors. First, please open your QBO company in a private or incognito tab and open your Chart of Accounts from there.

 

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

 

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

 

If it works, return to your regular browser and clear its cache to remove any unnecessary data and start afresh.  You can consider a different supported browser to optimize your QuickBooks experience.
