Yes, you can adjust the description column. I'd suggest following these steps.
- Go to the Gear icon.
- Under Your Company, click Custom Form Styles.
- Select the Edit link of the default invoice template.
- Click the Content tab.
- Choose the Activity section on the preview image to show the options.
- Click the Edit Labels and Widths link.
- Move the slider to adjust the widths.
- Click Done.

As for the message box, this will appear on every invoice.
You can also attach files, and email sales forms to your customer within QuickBooks Online. This helps you personalise the invoices you sent.
