I appreciate your efforts in following the steps provided, 12198. Since the error message persists, let’s proceed with uninstalling and then reinstalling your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) application. I am here to assist you throughout this process.

Reinstalling the application offers QuickBooks a fresh start, which will help resolve the issue by eliminating any corrupted files or settings that are causing the error.

Before we begin, it's important to back up your QuickBooks company file to safeguard your data and financial records. Once your data is secured, please follow the steps below:

Here's how you can uninstall your QuickBooks:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu, search for Control Panel, and open it.
  2. Select Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  3. Find and select the version of QuickBooks Desktop you wish to remove.
  4. Click on Uninstall/Change, then choose Remove and click Next. If you don't see these options, log out and sign in again to Windows as an administrator or a user with admin rights.

Then, here's to install the QuickBooks again:

  1. Ensure your computer meets QuickBooks system requirements and is connected to an active internet connection.
  2. Open the QuickBooks.exe.
  3. Choose either of the following:
    • Express Install - This will save all preferences and overwrite your previous QuickBooks version. To access the old version, use custom install.
    • Custom and Network Options - Custom installation allows you to keep prior versions by installing the new version in a different location. Preferences from the prior version won't transfer to the new one.
  4. Select Next, then Install.

After reinstalling the application, be sure to update QuickBooks to the latest version to benefit from the latest enhancements and fixes.

  1. Open your QuickBooks using the administrator role.
  2. Go to the Company menu, then Users.
  3. Select the Set Up User and Roles from the Users dropdown.
  4. On the Users and Roles window, select the role or user then click Delete.
  5. Once done, click Close.
  6. After that, recreate the user role.
