Let me guide you in creating a new file in QuickBooks, Gavin18.
In QuickBooks Desktop, we can save multiple company files for multiple businesses and each business should have its own company file. Also, both QuickBook Pro and Enterprise version has the same steps in creating a new file. Here's how:
- Open QuickBooks Desktop.
- In the No Company Open window, choose Create a new company.
- Select Express Start if you want to get started right away. You only need to enter your business name, industry, and business type and select Create Company File to create your company. You can enter this info later on. You can also choose Advanced Setup if you want to do a complete setup so all of your info is in from the start.
- Follow the onscreen steps to finish the setup. If you have an existing company file in QuickBooks, give your new one a unique name. This prevents QuickBooks from accidentally overwriting your data.
- Press Start Working.
To learn more about this one, see the Create a QuickBooks Desktop company file article. You can also rename your QuickBooks company file if your company's name was changed, misspelled, or used the wrong name.
Feel free to visit our Get started page for more insights about managing your files in QuickBooks.
I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Feel free to reply to this post and I'll get back to you, Take care always.
