Quickbook and National E-Invoicing Portal
Hi, I am from Malaysia and our country is launching E-Invoicing Portal soon.
I believe many countries are already having E-Invoicing where the Inland Revenue Department have records on all invoices and payments.
May I know how are you dealing with it? Manually upload the information into the E-Invoicing Portal or developing API to reduce double work?
Also would like to explore if there are other Malaysian company using Quickbook and what are you planning to do?
Solved! Go to Solution.

You may have known that the launch of the e-invoicing mandate implementation is delayed to 1 August 2024. You should wait until Q2 next year and find a 3rd party solution provider to integrate QBO and the IRBM system.

Good to see you here in the Community, @Vivien.
Currently, e-invoicing is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Malaysia. As a workaround, you may consider using an invoicing app.
QBO supports thousands of third-party applications for all your functional needs. Visit the Intuit App Center and enter a keyword in the search bar to explore the options.
You can follow these steps:
- On the left panel, click Apps.
- Go to the Find Apps tab.
- Use the search bar to look for an app.
While waiting for updates, review this link on managing invoices in QBO: Create invoices.
I'm also adding this article you can utilize to manage and personalise your invoices: Customise invoices, estimates, and sales receipts.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we implement this feature. We aim to provide you with the best experience in the future. If you need further assistance, please tag my name in the comment section. Take care!

Thank you for joining the thread, KS.
At the moment, the e-invoicing feature is still not available in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Malaysia. We kindly request your patience and understanding as we cannot provide an exact timeline for when this option will be available.
In the meantime, I suggest exploring third-party applications that can cater to your business needs.
Additionally, you can refer to this article with the steps on personalizing your sales forms: Customise invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Intuit (and other non-local accounting applications) are still calculating whether they need to support Peppol in Malaysia or not. July 2024 would be the earliest we can expect there to be a non-local accounting application that claims to support Peppol.

Yup, we manage more than 10 quickbook accounts on behalf of our clients and we are considering to opt-out if Quickbook can't comply this requirement.

Quickbooks lacklustre response to this is really disappointing.
Don't take my word for it - just make a phone call to their technical support and see how they answer you.
As of 28-May-2024.
Quickbooks used to have great support before it was bought over by Intuit.
(We have been using Quickbooks since 2015)
Now it has degraded.
Not too long ago (Feb 2024), many Malaysian clients including ourselves were locked out of our system for 2 months. yes - 2 MONTHS! For 2 months we cannot do any data entry in the system.
Reason was - there is a bug that don't allow us to enter a new credit card for subscription renewal (because our credit card expired. Well - all credit cards will expire at certain point of time right? So the system should cater for that right?
As someone with software engineering background - I can tell that it is an easy problem to solve. But - it took 2 months due to whatever red tapes they have.

Thanks for checking out the Community space, Sky_avblue.
Currently, the e-invoicing feature is not yet available in the international version of QuickBooks Online (QBO). We appreciate your patience and understanding as we're unable to specify when this option will be made available.
Meanwhile, I recommend exploring the QuickBooks App Store and searching for a third-party app that allows you to have the same features as e-invoicing.
Moreover, please refer to these articles that contain ideas on personalizing your sales forms in QBO.
If you have any other concerns regarding your invoices, please don't hesitate to reach out again. We're always here to lend help. Stay safe.

One of QBO's competitors plans to support eInvoicing in Malaysia by the third mandate for small/medium businesses in July 2025. I'm not sure Intuit will release QBO Malaysia version to comply. We'll have to wait until Q1-2025 to find a third-party PEPPOL solution to integrate with QBO. For now, you have to work manually. My clients are considering purchasing a third-party service to convert their data next year.
