The error Compile error in hidden module: UpdateReports frequently occurs when code is incompatible with the application's version or architecture (for example, code in a document targets 32-bit Microsoft Office applications, but it's attempting to run on 64-bit Office).
To get around the issue, we'll have to keep our QBDT updated to the latest release. Here's how:
- Press F2 or Ctrl + 1 when logged in to QBDT to check your current version and release. Please note the current release numbers for each version of QBDT: QuickBooks 2023 R3_172, QuickBooks 2022 R7_20, QuickBooks 2021 R12_7, and QuickBooks 2020 R16_25.
- Next, let's update QBDT manually. Go to Help and click Update QuickBooks Desktop.
- Select Update Now, then click Get Updates.
- Once done, close and reopen QBDT.
- Click Yes when asked to install the update.
- Restart your computer once the installation finishes.
In addition, download the latest payroll tax table if you have an active payroll subscription so we can process payroll in QBDT.
