I need to void my 1099 submissions but there is no "void" button as listed in the Quickbook instructions. What can I do to fix this?

The wrong address for our company is on the 1099's so I need to void them and all and refile. The instructions to do this say there is a "void" button on the 1099 page, but there is not.

I need to void my 1099 submissions but there is no "void" button as listed in the Quickbook instructions. What can I do to fix this?

I can assist with your 1099 concern, treasurer-votmqg.

The option to void the 1099 will show if you received a rejected email from the IRS.

Currently, correcting the 1099 that's already filed is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). To submit corrected 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC forms, contact the IRS directly to do a manual amendment.

For additional information, please see this link from the IRS: General Instructions for Certain Information Returns, Part H. It contains the steps to perform when discovering an error after filing a return. You can also refer to this page on how to perform the process: Correct or change 1099.

If you received an email and the Void option is missing, we are investigating this 1099 issue. Please be assured that our engineers are working diligently to resolve this problem.

I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team so that you'll be added to the list of affected users. This way, you'll receive email updates on the investigation's status and be notified once it's been resolved. To expedite the transaction, provide this investigation number INV-98606.

Here's how.

  1. Go to the (?) Help icon.
  2. Select Talk to a Human.
  3. Enter a short description of your concern.
  4. Click on I still need a human.
  5. Tap Contact Us to connect with our live support.
  6. Choose to Get a callback.

Additionally, I've included this article to help answer the most commonly asked questions about 1099s in QuickBooks: Get answers to your 1099 questions.

Furthermore, you may want to print your 1099 forms in QBO to get a physical copy for record-keeping.

Let me know if you need additional guidance in voiding your 1099 filing in QuickBooks. We'll be more than glad to offer assistance. Take care.

The "void" option showed up today, so I was able to void all our 1099's. Now I just need to figure out how to resubmit them. I don't see any way in Quickbooks to do that.

The "void" option was available today, so I was able to void all our 1099's. Now I just need to figure out how to resubmit them. Quickbooks doesn't seem to have that option. I can't believe that they would just leave me hanging but . . .

I appreciate you getting back to us, Treasurer. Let me chime in and assist you in resubmitting your 1099 forms in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

After voiding and updating the correct information, you can e-file your 1099 forms again as per the usual method. If you have already paid for the initial e-filing, there will be no charges when you resubmit.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll and select Contractors.
  2. Click Prepare 1099s.
  3. Follow the steps to create and e-file your 1099 forms. Then, review and update your company's legal and contractor details, including their legal name, tax identification numbers, and addresses.

Once complete, each contractor will receive a new paper and electronic copy of their 1099 form.

Furthermore, you can print your 1099 forms directly in QBO if you require physical copies for your contractors.

Keep in touch if you need additional guidance in e-filing your 1099 forms in QBO. The Community is open anytime to assist you. Take care.
