Help Menu

I'm using Desktop Pro Plus 2024.  My Help Menu will not work at all for anything.  I had this problem before on earlier versions and had a call in to QB support.  As soon as they called it came up but then wouldn't work after that.  I just quit and gave up but would really like to have it.  Any help would be appreciated.

I recommend utilizing the QB Tool Hub, designed specifically to fix problems like software crashes, error messages, or faulty features. This could be a great solution to help streamline your experience. You can follow these steps:

 

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version  (1.6.0.8) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub to get the best result when using the tool. Save it somewhere you can easily find it. 
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the installation finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

Help Menu

Unfortunately the QB tool hub didn't help me at all.  I have nothing when I try to use the Help option.

Keeping your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) updated with the latest release will help fix and retrieve the functionality of the Help menu. Before doing so, I recommend uninstalling and then reinstalling the system to have the newest features and product improvements.

 

Note: Before doing the steps below, it's important to back up your QBDT company file to avoid data loss.

 

To uninstall QBDT, here's how:

 

  1. Open the Windows Start menu. Search for “Control Panel”, then open Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  3. From the list of programs, select the version of QuickBooks Desktop you want to remove.
  4. Choose Uninstall/ChangeRemove, and then Next.  
  5. If you don’t see this option, sign out and sign back into Windows as an admin (or a user with admin rights).

Install the trial version of QB Desktop 2024 Enterprise. Did you encounter the same problem?

I don't use Enterprise only the Desktop Plus.  I have had this problem for a few years.  I had support to log in back before and as soon as they logged in, it started working but then after I hung up it quit.  After waiting forever for help from them, I just quit.  I just upgraded to 2024 and had hopes that this would fix it but unfortunately it didn't.

Aside from following the steps shared by my peer @RazzieE above to resolve unexpected behaviors within the program, you can also open a sample file. This will help you determine if the behavior is identical to your original company file in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Here's how:

 

  1. Open the Windows Start menu.
  2. Press and hold the Ctrl key and double-click your QuickBooks program icon.
  3. Hold the Ctrl key until the No Company Open window shows.
  4. From the No Company Open window, select Open a sample file.
  5. Choose any sample file from the list.

Once you're in the sample company file, click the Help menu to verify whether it is functioning properly. If it works, close the sample company, then open your company file and check it there.

 

If the issue persists with your company file while it functions properly in the sample company, you can run the QuickBooks Tool Hub again. Make sure to select Program Problems in Step 2 of this article: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.
