Buy nowI have been using QB Desktop for years and years. I currently have QB Desktop Pro Plus 2024. My Subscription expires in 30 days. If I choose not to renew the Subscription will I still be able to use Desktop pro plus 2024? I don't care about the online services. I just need it for my accounts, making invoices, and reports. I don't use the payroll services, the downloading of my accounts or any payment services.
Can I still do the basics but not have access to the online services or will i get totally locked out of using QB Desktop Pro Plus 2024?
Thanks for your help!
You cannot cancel your subscription unless you change your credit card detail to a dummy one before the renewal date. Otherwise, their billing system will charge your card and you must contact Support within 60 days to cancel your subscription and request for a refund. Then you will be in read-only mode for one year to access your data until the program locks you out.
If you don’t need to run any add-ons, you can switch to the older version of QB Desktop with a non-subscription license.
No, @MartyPhoto. If you do not renew your QBDT Pro Plus subscription before it expires, you will lose access to product features, online services, and basic functions. I'd be glad to discuss this further below for better understanding.
Since QBDT Pro Plus works on a subscription-based product, choosing not to renew will lose the ability to perform basic functions like creating invoices and reports. However, you will retain view-only access to your data for one year after your subscription expires. Throughout this period, while you can review your reports, you won’t be able to create new transactions. It's advisable to export your data before canceling your subscription.
Moreover, it’s beneficial to understand how to back up your accounting data in QBDT for future use. Should any issues arise, you’ll be equipped to restore your data using this backup.

I'm in the same boat and would like to switch to an older version of QB Desktop. How do I do this and preserve my data, so I can continue to do transactions?
You need QB Desktop 2019 license or newer. You can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA to find one.
Data preservation is vital to maintaining the continuity of your business transactions, especially when considering switching to an older version of QuickBooks Desktop, Denise. Let me share some valuable information about this in detail.
Firstly, it's important to know that if you use a previous version of QuickBooks, you'll have to manually re-enter the transactions you have entered in the upgraded or converted file in the old backup file. To learn more about company file compatibility, refer to this article: Company file compatibility with QuickBooks Desktop.
Moreover, it's essential to remain on an active, supported version of QuickBooks Desktop. If you want to transition to an older version of QBDT, please know that there isn't a direct way anymore. However, if you wish to export transactions that can fit your specific needs, you can consider choosing QuickBooks Online. There are accounting products that can meet your preferences, from the simplest to the most complex.
Furthermore, as a QuickBooks Desktop user, you still own your data, regardless of subscription status. You can open and edit company files with a compatible license or active subscription. For more information, check this out: Renew your subscription or use view-only mode in QuickBooks Desktop.
Additionally, you can efficiently manage your QBDT account and subscriptions with the Customer Account Maintenance Portal (CAMPs).
You're always welcome to ask any additional questions about data in QuickBooks. Just keep me posted, Denise, and I'd be more than glad to assist you whenever you need it.
How do you renew your QB Desktop pro plus subscription?
Are there options other than enterprise?
@hete saas As long as your payment information remains accurate, it will automatically attempt to renew once a year.
For Desktop 2024, this will continue until 2027.
After that is anybody's guess; mine is that Enterprise will be the only Desktop offering left after May of 2027.

You've come to the right place for assistance. I'm happy to provide some info about renewing your QuickBooks Desktop subscription.
To renew your current subscription it's recommended to call into the Desktop Support Team to get your renewal taken care of quickly and efficiently. The following article provides additional details about renewing your subscription or use view-only mode in QuickBooks Desktop.
I'm also relaying a couple of articles that I believe you'll find useful:
The Community is a great place to hear from other QuickBooks users about their first-hand experiences with the different products as well. If you have any other questions in the meantime please don't hesitate to drop a comment below.
Can you login to CAMPS as the Primary Contact? You can renew your license through a reseller + you can get $200 cashback. Another option, if you don't need to run any add-ons, switch to old QB Desktop with a non subscription license.
I've been told and have read that you cannot go back to an older version of Quickbooks. They are not backward compatible. So how do you accomplish this "switch to old QB Desktop with a non-subscription license"? Will the work done in QBDT Pro Plus 2024 all transfer over to QBDT 2021?
I spoke with Intuit today and asked if I do not renew, what access would I have to my data? I would lose functionality because updates would stop but the rep said I would be able to add transactions and run reports as usual, for as long as I wanted. From this forum and others, that if not renewing, it would become data-view only for one year. So I'm confused at the discrepancy. Which is correct? Are the reps giving out false information?
Hi, @acctg25. Thank you for joining the thread.
QuickBooks Pro and Premier Plus are subscription-based licenses. This means that the ability to add transactions depends on the status of your account.
To clarify, when a Pro Plus subscription expires, QuickBooks switches to view-only mode for one year. During this time, you'll be able to open your company file and view data, but you won't be able to add transactions, run reports, or make any edits.
You can read more details about canceling Desktop accounts in these articles:
If you choose to go back to 2021, you can restore a backup file created in that version as long as you still have a copy of it. If no older backup is available, you can look for a third-party app to make your file compatible with older versions.
Feel free to drop back in with any other questions or concerns.
You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA directly by email for details. They can help you to access your company files in older versions.
Ok I have a question.. I’m still using 2016 desk top.. I need to upgrade my program because I think my computer is to old as well… what upgrade year can I use with out going completely on line.. I do not use any of the online services, just your basic use . Can you help me please. Thank you.
Thank you for reaching out with your question, Purpledoordayspa.
It’s great to hear you’re considering upgrading your QuickBooks Desktop, especially since the 2016 version is no longer supported and has been discontinued.
Currently, the available version for QuickBooks Desktop is QuickBooks Enterprise 2024, which offers powerful tools and features for managing your business finances. It allows you the flexibility to continue working in a desktop environment without having to completely move to QuickBooks Online, while still benefiting from an updated and reliable system.
To determine the best upgrade for your business, we suggest checking the QuickBooks Plans and Pricing page to compare features and costs for QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. For a more personalized recommendation, you can also contact QuickBooks Sales Support directly. They can provide advice tailored to your specific business needs and computer setup.

Which Windows OS do you run on the new PC?
Thanks for the estimated update.
Guess lots of accountants, tax pros, etc... will be looking for another Bookkeeping software.
Intuit has grown greedy and increased its pricing that it's Very expensive now and honestly NOT worth keeping.
Many accountants/tax pros don't want to be bookkeepers but need to IF we want to attract and keep clients, esp. corp. clients, then expand our services. We are Not bookkeepers!
The online versions, regardless of company and products, really sucks!
There are some sellers on ebay.com offering QuickBooks Desktop 2024 claiming it's a "Lifetime" copy and no subscription needed
Example is this link
Is it genuine? If not does a desktop offline version exist and available with you here
Hello, Kyle.
While some listings on platforms like eBay may advertise QuickBooks Desktop 2024 as a lifetime version with no subscription, it's not advisable to purchase software from unofficial or third-party sellers.
Intuit has stopped offering one-time purchase versions of QuickBooks Desktop for most products in the U.S. This change includes ending new subscriptions for Pro Plus, Premier Plus, and Mac Plus by September 30, 2024.
QuickBooks Desktop is now exclusively available through subscription plans. To learn more about the prices, see this page: QuickBooks Enterprise Pricing.

Which QB Desktop year version do you run now? You can still use old QB Desktop with non subscription license until now.
