I've just completed the quickbooks proadvisor training, i've tried clearing my browser cache, changing to a different browser, nothing works. I am using QBO on a brand new, up to date, 2025 Macbook. I added my clients - everything I see online says that they should receive an email to create a password - but they have not. I see no other help for this issue. They have not added a subscription yet but my understanding is that I can still start their books. However I have no access. I've tried looking into them inviting me as their accountant but they dont have a quickbooks account yet, so they can't, right? I'm planning on adding one as a Ledger account very soon, but i'm unsure about quickbooks online already now with all the issues i've been having already, it hasn't been smooth. I also can't find anything out there with others having the same issue. On another note, I've changed to the newest version - but its not showing the way it's supposed to, it looks the same as the old version. So i'm just so confused. Maybe not a good time to be starting on QBO with all the changes, but it is what it is and I want to get started with bookkeeping! Thanks for any help anyone may have for me.
I can see how this situation would be confusing. It's essential to get things working correctly from the start, and I'm here to help you resolve this issue so you can begin working with your clients.
First, let's address the issue of your clients not appearing in the "Go to QuickBooks" dropdown.
The reason you can't see them there is that they haven't accepted your invitation yet. The "Go to QuickBooks" dropdown lets you access a client's QuickBooks company file, once they have accepted your invitation to connect. Until they accept, you won't be able to access their books from your QBOA account.
Now, regarding the email invitations not being received by your clients, let's explore a couple of possibilities. It's possible the invitation email went to their spam or junk folder, so it's a good idea for them to check there first. If they still can't find it, we can resend the invitation.
To resend the invitation:
After that, let's clarify your access to a client's books. You are correct that they don't need a subscription for you to start their books, but they do need to accept your invitation first.
Once they accept, they'll be able to create a password and set up their QuickBooks account. You can then access their books, even if they're on a trial period or don't have an active subscription.
Finally, regarding the new QuickBooks Online interface not showing, this can sometimes be a browser issue. While you've already tried clearing your cache and using a different browser, ensure you're logged into your QBOA account, as the new interface is often rolled out to accounting firms first.
