Who Cheered this Article

I had the issue and I immediately thought about a similar issue I had when I wanted to invite employees to view paychecks online. When inviting for time tracking, the email address is automatically their user name. Therefore if that email address is/has been used within the Intuit stratosphere (if they previously had qbo, self-employed, Mint, or any Intuit products), it will not work. Also, if their email is/has been used within your qbo account as a vendor, it will not work. The work around for vendors with 1099 tracking is great, but it’s pointless to have duplicate vendors and can cause confusion for tax time so what I do is use their time tracking email simply for time tracking and mark those as billable hours linked to clients/projects, then I make bills under their normal vendor account. It’s important that for the bills, you do not associate to a specific project/client as I realized that it will duplicate costs in your P/L. It’s ALOT to consider for a simple time tracking feature. For employees, I haven’t figured out a work around besides trying to use a different email address. I figured that would mean that they will have 2 intuit logins now: one for time tracking and one to view paystubs. However, I tried that and it wouldn’t let me continue with a new email address (even though it had never been used in my qbo or the Intuit stratosphere). In this case, I think it’s because the email address linked to the employee’s profile is an existing user id (they signed up to view paychecks online) so maybe it won’t let me assign a new one? I’m afraid to see what happens if I change the employee’s email completely, then invite with new email. I think they will likely lose access to online check stubs. If anyone tries it out, please update us. This is wayyyy too much to think about for simple time tracking smh.
