Hello there, mboyett.

I can see the necessity of having the correct address on your sales tax for accurate tax computation. Hence, I'll provide details to help you achieve your goal in QuickBooks online.

Please know that turning off sales tax is only available if you don't have any existing transactions that have sales tax. If you have any, you would need to remove them from the system.

Here's how to turn off automated sales tax:

  1. Head to Taxes and select Sales tax.
  2. Click the Sales Tax Settings, then Turn off sales tax.
  3. To confirm the action, select Yes.

On the other hand, you need to set up customers' shipping and billing addresses to prevent QuickBooks from calculating taxes based on your company address. Also, ensure their addresses are set up in the Shipping to field on the sales form. Here's how:

  1. Click on the +New button, then choose Invoice.
  2. Select the customer on the Add customer dropdown.
  3. Fill in all the necessary information.
  4. Click on See the math link under Sales tax.
  5. In the Location and Addresses section, select Edit.
  6. Update the Shipping to field if necessary, then click Save and Close
  7. Save the transaction depending on your preference.

Moreover, you might want to review these resources whenever you need to utilize different tax rates:
