Hi Marianne,

Welcome back to the Community! The program is designed to help you streamline your accounting with ease. I'll be happy to steer you in the right direction so you can get back to doing what you enjoy.

To record a QST instalment in QuickBooks Online, you can follow these steps:

Navigate to the Taxes Section:

  • Click on the Taxes tab in the left-hand menu.
  • Select Sales Tax at the top of the page.

Record the Instalment:

  • Click on New and then select Installment.
  • Enter the details such as the account the payment is from, the payment date, the filing date, and the amount.

Adjust for QST:

  • Since the default option might be set for GST, you need to manually adjust the entry to reflect QST. You can do this by ensuring the payment is categorized under the correct tax agency (e.g., Revenu Québec).

Save the Entry:

  • After entering all the necessary details, click Record installment or Save to save the entry.

If you find that the system still defaults to GST, you might need to manually adjust the transaction in your bank feed to match it with the QST installment you created.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach back out.
