Thanks for bringing this one to our attention, billsw222.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) is dependent upon what your bank shares with us and on how they are initially displayed on your bank's website. The option to change the description field in your bank feeds is unavailable. What we can do is to edit it once you've added them to your register. This goes the same way with those transactions that were manually recorded in QuickBooks. Here's how:

  1. Click Accounting on the left menu.
  2. Choose Chart of Accounts.
  3. Tick View register under Action column.
  4. Locate the transaction, and click to open.
  5. Tap the Edit button.
  6. Hit the Description box/column to edit.
  7. Press Save.

If the updated description is not reflected in the transaction, let's try signing in to your account using a private or incognito window. This mode doesn't use the existing cache data and helps us confirm browser-related issues. Here's how:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The overtime collection of data can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue. You can also use other supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue. Feel free to visit our Banking page for more insights about managing your bank feeds transactions.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Please leave a comment below and I'll get back to you. Take care always.
