MarshallA is correct. When creating a new account on your Chart of Accounts, the list showing on the Detail Type depends on the Account Type selected. The reason why it displays Cash on hand, Checking and other it's because you've pick Bank as the Account Type.
To create a liability account, you can select Other Current Liabilities or Long Term Liabilities instead. From there, the corresponding Detail Type comes up.
