I figured it out!!  You need to go into Google and create an "app Password".  This tells Google that it's okay to talk to quickbooks.  It's a one-time only password that you enter into quickbooks (i sent an invoice to myself) and instead of using my google password, I used the app Password supplied by google.  Then your regular password will work from then on.
