Transitioning from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO) can be a big change, and it’s great to hear you’re learning to use its features. Yes, AG220. The service fee applies only if the customer pays online via credit card or any other online payment method.

In QBO, online payments include a processing fee. To cover this, you’ll manually add the fee to your customer’s invoice so it reflects the full amount due.

If your customer pays by check, there’ll be no processing fee since check payments don’t incur payment processors. In that case, remove the fee from the invoice before receiving the payment. This ensures the invoice shows no open balance, and removing the service fee for non-credit card payments won’t impact the history. It will only update the invoice to reflect the actual amount.
