Actually, it appears it might be possible to remove ads. If you go to the Preferences page of your Intuit account:

https://accounts.intuit.com/app/account-manager/preferences

and scroll down to where it says "Personalized Ads" you can turn everything off here. I did and got a message saying it will take up to 48 hrs to take effect. We'll see what happens!
