I have had this issue several times and had to apologetically call a customer to explain and I'm sure they think I'm full of it. Of course it's credited immediately, but it is sure a mess. I ended up changing the payment method in the customer payment area. Even though they may not be paying with a check or alternate method, it alleviates the error and just needs to be changed back if a credit card is ran. I will no longer save customer credit cards due to this issue and don't understand that after this long, 2023 and beyond, that it hasn't been corrected.
