QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) updates aim to improve software functionality and fix any previous version release updates. When there's a system update, sometimes there can be unforeseen effects on existing features, such as memorized reports. I have had the same experience with other programs I rely on. I understand updating can be sometimes cumbersome, especially if this is the only software I can depend on. Here are a few solutions you can consider to address this issue:

 

  1. Verify the Update: ensure that the update was synced and that there were no issues during installation process. If you find one, it's best to reinstall QBDT.
  2. Check Report Settings: Review your memorized reports for any missing fields or settings and re-add them manually if needed, as updates can reset preferences.
  3. Update QuickBooks Report Preferences: you can go to Edit and then select Preferences, choose Reports & Graphs, and check if there are any settings that have been altered after the update that need reconfiguring.
  4. Re-memorize Reports: if specific reports are severely changed, you can recreate and re-memorize them with the updates applied.
  5. Restore a Backup: if you have a backup of your QuickBooks data before the update, you can restore it and compare it to see exactly what has changed.

After significant updates, Intuit always releases patches to fix subsequent issues. We can check if there are any newer patches or updates and ensure to tick the Reset Update box, allowing QuickBooks to download the latest patches and clear the update history: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. This is a Canadian article, but the steps in the 'Install the update' section can also be applied to the QBDT US version.
