Thank you also for your response. I understand splits. When I open the false split I see only one number on one line.  When I input these sales receipts I input the numbers on only one item line and then record it. I don't even touch a second line. Hence the mystery You can see it in the screenshot below. The item has no subcategories in this case. Anyway I have no clue and if anyone does it would be great and if not, I will  live with it
