This would work because it's likely the scale settings when printing PDFs. If you go to print settings and choose "more settings" you'll see that your scale is likely set to 97%. I don't know why it would do that, I've never printed ANYTHING at that scale but that's what it does to me every time. 

You wouldn't have the same problem in Word cause the print/scale settings are saved by program.
