I agree, how do I edit/change an already created invoice number?

I created an invoice. But I now have to edit the invoice number.

When I follow your directions, it says.

Go to invoices

Find the invoice you want and click edit.

Go to invoice number box/field and change it.

I CANNOT. 

your directions are wrong.

I USED to be able to do that, now I cannot. WHY?
