so, the answer from QB is, no, you cant. no longer available. the rep said, and I paraphrase, if enough people complain, perhaps they will reinstate it.  she doesnt like it either.  so, there ya have it: dont bother searching for the " upper right corner" for the "old layout" option because it doesnt exist. f'ing intuit... every time I get my templates laid out the way I want it, they basically say screw you, we know better. nope. you dont. bite me.
