Work-around fix as follows:

Contractor, edit, temporary change ss#, save, back to edit again, change back ss#, change email, save, done!!

It's a silly work around, but quick and easy for sure.

Your customer community loses faith in you when you don't care to fix these small simple things. A software programmer could have this permanently fixed in just a few minutes.
