I appreciate you for performing some steps to accomplish your goal in QuickBooks Online, Dan. Please know that QBO's workflow has been updated. Based on your statement, it appears you're on the program's new interface. Let me provide further details about this and ensure you can achieve your goal.

Customizing the Customer Contact List report on the new layout to display all inactive customers is currently unavailable. That is why the mentioned report seems empty or is unable to display all of the removed customers.

For now, I recommend switching to the old style so you can see the entire customer list, including inactive ones. To do so, click the Switch classic view button. Then, follow with the steps below.

  1. Click the Customize button.
  2. Choose the Filter drop-down arrow.
  3. Checkmark the Customer box and choose Select All.
  4. Checkmark the Deleted box and choose All.
  5. Click Run report.

Once completed, you'll be able to see all inactive customers with the word deleted beside their full name.

I also recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Support Team. This is done to report this matter so that it can be investigated further by our engineering team.

In case you need steps on how to memorize a report that allows you to save its current customization settings, you read this article: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any further questions about managing customer data or reports in QBO, leave a comment below. I'm always ready to answer them for you, Dan. Take care always!
