This is extremely frustrating. It looks like an AI is attempting to answer a question. This is such a basic concept that this run around does not make any sense. So, I am still unable to figure out how to request a deposit from the client before starting a job. I've researched all over for this information, specifically for Quickbooks Desktop - which is supposed to be a more robust program, with NO success. The only option I found was to create an invoice to send it to the client and keep track somehow... Aside from the whole keeping track, which we could use the assistance of excel - how embarrassing!
