RE: wrong wronmg wrong, i am talking financila statmenmts not the chart of accounts

Other posters have tried to make how QuickBooks works clear; I'll try again:

- The order of accounts on financial statements, within each account-type grouping, is determined by the order of those accounts on the chart of accounts. In this way you can customize how accounts appear on  financial statements.

- The default sort order on the chart of accounts, within each account-type grouping, is either alpha - based on the account name, or numeric - based on the account number (if account numbers are enabled in preferences and used.)

- However, you can force the order on the chart of accounts by clicking and dragging accounts and placing them where you want them.

For example, in the first picture you can see the balance sheet and the chart of account together, where the bank accounts are in the natural sort order - alpha by name:

And here in the second picture I've dragged Wells Fargo Checking to the top of the Bank account section. When I do that, the balance sheet updates as well, to reflect my preference:

RE: for god sake

the chart of accounts is NOT the financial statements

how do you get reports ie financial statement in the world wide standard order of

fixed assets

currents

current

liabilities

Capital

This is not a standard for the balance sheet and is not what QuickBooks does. If anything the standard is to show Assets by type in order of liquidity and Liabilities by type on order of time-based priory of payment, which is what QuickBooks does.

In QuickBooks, the balance sheet is ordered like this:

Assets

   Cash

   A/R

   Current Assets

   Fixed Assets

   Other Assets

Liabilities

   Current Liabilities

      A/P

     Credit Cards

     Other Current Liabilities

   Long Term Liabilities

Equity

   Equity

   Retained Earnings

   Current Earnings
