If you are using QuickBooks Desktop Pro, the option to see the totals at the bottom is unavailable (as what BigRedConsulting mentioned). If not, let's try opening another company file (if you have one) to check if you're having a problem with only one file and not the program itself. Let me show you how:
Then, try creating a journal entry in QuickBooks again. If it works, there may be damaged data on the company file you've been working with.
