I understand how important to have that information on the report. However, the option to customize it is unavailable.

You'll want to pull up the Customer Balance Detail report instead to get the information you need. Just go to the Reports menu, choose Customers & Receivables, then select Customer Balance Detail. 

Also, I suggest sending your suggestions straight to our developers. Your ideas help identify the features our customers want the most for consideration in future enhancements. Go to Help menu > Send feedback and request for this functionality to be added.
