Scott is quite eloquent.  I suspect this is a marketing ploy, not an engineering problem.  At the very least, Intuit should offer differing formats of checks.  I, too, have many issues with the Sage 50 product, and about 5 years supply of Sage style checks that I did customize.  Given Intuit's market share, what is there to loose from the bottom line if a few check orders disappear.  I would like to see the ability to move fields around the check form so that it lines up with the windows on the envelopes and so that I can make my present checks work.  When they run out, I will be glad to order uniquely QB checks.  Please say this is on a soon to be released update.
