The .xls file type is not yet supported with reports in QuickBooks Desktop. You may look for a third party application that can help you prepare the file or document needed.
You may also export the report to Excel and save it as Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls). To export a QuickBooks report to Excel:
- From the report's page, select Create New Worksheet from the Excel drop-down.
- Click on the in new workbooks button, then hit Export.
Once the data are exported to Excel, here's how you can save it as a .xls file:
- Go to the File menu, then tap on the Save As tab.
- Input the file's name, then choose Excel 97-2003 Workbook.
- Save the document.
