We received a call like this last week.  It hit close to home, because Intuit actually TERMINATED MY SOFTWARE because my "subscription expired" last month. Perhaps the root cause of these scam calls, is the bad behavior of Intuit for actually terminating subscriptions (in my case, for NO VALID REASON), and holding company files hostage.  Yes -- it was actually INTUIT who did this to me last month, so now a scammer called and used the same exact phrase "your subscription is expiring", so I didn't want to quickly rule the call out as a scam.
