Frustrated with my options, I did something even simpler:  I left the payment applied to the original invoice, contacted the client via my email (forwarding the Intuit NSF email) and requested a check.  I deposited the check without recording in Quickbooks, but did record the $10 fee.  Recording two paid invoices does not seem like good accounting practice to me.
