That suggestion sounds good in theory but I just was working on a system that got recent round of windows updates and Cannot run internet explorer.

10.0.19042

System File check  utility ( sfc /scannow ) says the windows installation is healthy.

The change windows optional features shows an empty checkbox for IE11 but checking it does no good. There is no activity after placing a check in the box next to IE and saving/closing the dialouge box. Re-opeing the optional features again and the  checkbox shows cleared again.

This system worked well until this week when it applied a recent round of windows updates. Rebooting - disabeling antivirus , trying microsoft KB, system restore points etc all fail to bring back IE 11 thus making quickbooks usable.

Intuit support suggesting purchasing the latest version of quickbooks desktop but IE11 apparently is a requirement even for the latest version of Quickbooks.

So I expect your development team will be needing to put this issue to a high priority since microsoft is saying

"Microsoft is disabling Internet Explorer on these versions/editions of Windows:

  • Windows 10 version 20H2 and later.
  • Windows 10 IoT (version 20H2 and later).

This change affects all supported consumer and enterprise editions of Windows 10, but there won’t be any noticeable changes if you use in-market Windows 10 LTSC or Server edition of Internet Explorer 11.

After these deadlines have passed, Internet Explorer 11 will be disabled and users won’t be able to use it. Internet Explorer will be redirected to Microsoft Edge if you manage to access it. "
