This is not what I want you to experience with your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software, @lbollinger4.
Allow me to share with you a couple of steps so you can open your software seamlessly.
First off, you’ll want to ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements and update your software to the latest release. This way, we can guarantee the program runs smoothly on your device.
If the issue persists, I recommend downloading our QuickBooks Tool Hub and run the Fix my Program. This tool scans your software for issues and quickly fix them. I’d be glad to walk you through the steps.
- Close your QBDT.
- Download our QuickBooks Tool Hub.
- Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe) and follow the on-screen steps to install.
- When the install finishes, open the tool hub on your Windows desktop.
- Select Program Problems.
- Click Quick Fix my Program.
- Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

Also, QuickBooks recently release an update that older versions of QBDT are scheduled to be discontinued. After May 31, 2021, access to add-on services will be impossible for the 2018 versions of QBDT.
