This sounds like it might work.  I have noticed (at someone's suggestion) that if I disconnect the wifi connection before opening QB, it does not ask for an Intuit login - but that solution is awkward as I have other uses of the Internet for the machine.  Instead, this solution is a bit like turning off the wifi just for the QB app, leaving other uses of the Internet available.  I will give it a try.  Thanks, NoForcedAcct!
