I can share a couple of info and steps to ensure you can contact our support team and open your QuickBooks, @pdrichie1.

In addition to what Fiat Lux - ASIA stated, Intuit doesn't call you and ask for a service charge unless you requested a callback. To avoid these scam phone calls, we highly recommend not including any private information such as personal/business phone numbers, email addresses, or credit card details when posting here in the Community.

If you keep receiving this kind of call or any fraudulent acts, I'd suggest reporting this directly to our Intuit Security team.

Here's how:

  1. Go to this link: https://security.intuit.com/.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Look for the Report technical support scams option and click on it.

Also, we've made some changes to our Support options for QuickBooks Desktop. Our representatives are available through chat or messaging to accommodate all our customer's concerns effectively. Thus, I recommend checking out our support hours guide to ensure they can assist you on time. Here's how to get in touch with our support team:

  1. Open QuickBooks and click the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. On the pop-up screen, select Contact us.

  4. Choose the Search for Something else button then type your concern in the Ask us anything box like "can't open or QBDT crashes".
  5. Click Search and then select the Start a Message option.

For your next concern, what my colleague @MirriamM outlined above are the possible reasons why QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) won't open. To fix this, make sure to update QBDT to the latest release to have the latest features and needed patches. Since you've already run the QuickBooks Tool Hub and still won't work, you can suppress QBDT. This will help identify a company file damage.

Here's how:

  1. Press and hold the Ctrl key, then double-click the QBDT icon. (Important: Don't release the Ctrl key until you see the "No Company Open" window unless QuickBooks freezes or gives you an error.)
  2. Select a company file, and then click Open.

If the same thing happens, please follow Solutions 3 to outlined in this article: What to do when QuickBooks doesn't start or won't open.

If the issue persists, you can seek help from our support team using the steps above. This way, they can check your account securely and perform a viewing session if needed. Also, Quicken has a different dedicated support team. You can visit their Community page for more info: Quicken support.

For good practice, you can create a backup copy of your company files. This way, you can restore them anytime in case of accidental data loss.

You can always get back here in the Community if you have more questions about managing your QBDT. I'd be glad to help you some more. Take care.
