This is no less than Quickbooks trying to force us to upgrade...

 

I sent them the message to all the places they recommended and spoke in person and that guy walked me through the process and NONE OF IT WORKED. This is the email I received back from them this morning and as you can well see they're pushing to sell the upgrade. So I've included the email I sent back to them.

 

I hope you see this is a scam, as so many of us are now realizing.

Thank you for trying out the steps provided by my colleagues and for letting us know the results.

 

Since the error is persisting after trying all of the troubleshooting methods, I recommend upgrading to the latest version of the Desktop software. I saw that you mentioned you only use a handful of offline features, but upgrading would ensure the error is removed and you're account features and functionality will be up-to-date.

 

If you would like to attempt the workarounds that have also been shared, that may be an idea but ultimately your call. The following article provides the details on upgrading to the latest release of QuickBooks Desktop:

My response:

 

My issue is as you describe in your email. This email confirms exactly what too many of us already suspected. It's a quick book issue to make all of us upgrade when in fact that should not be necessary, but it's a way for you to charge us $300.00 more for upgrading. This is considered unethical and I expect a fix. 
 
Your so-called fix is not a fix and you know that it isn't. We as a group will start an online petition against this behavior and it will then be published and sent to all the BBB's. The news and local government agencies. This is wrong in every way.
 
I have a husband that is sick and don't have the money to help your company get wealthy at a cost of greed. 
 
What I have should not in any way have this error unless you designed this to happen. I've gotten confirmation that this is a deliberate action on the QuickBooks part.  
 
Now, as a last-ditch effort before presenting this too much higher levels, I'm asking you to correct this issue.
 
You may call and try to work with me on fixing this.
