Let me share how we can upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop 2021, Richard.
@Deity Alpha is right. QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2025 is still unavailable. However, you can upgrade your QBDT 2021 to QBDT 2024.
To start the process, make sure you've purchased the QBDT 2024. If not, contact our Sales Support to buy it. You can find their contact number at the top right corner of this article: Can't buy QuickBooks Desktop as a new US subscriber.
Once you've got the QBDT 2024, get your license number ready. Then follow these steps:
- Download the QuickBooks Desktop Manager.
- Click on Download.
- Select the QuickBooks License Agreement and click Let's get started.
- Enter the license number to search for your QBDT 2024 and select Search.
- Choose the email address you use to receive OTP. Enter it once you receive the OTP.
- Look for your QBDT 2024 and click Install.
- When done, select Open QuickBooks and activate it.

Moving forward, you are correct that you'll need a separate subscription for your companies if you want to migrate to QuickBooks Online.
