Get 50% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months*
Buy nowThis is a major fail on the behalf of the accounting software giant. I do not think the IRS will blame any Intuit customer for assuming that since QuickBooks e-files W-2s, Form 940, 941, and even state unemployment tax returns for free, that they would comply with the IRS e-filing requirements on the 1099s. So we have to wait 45 days for our application to efile through the IRS for free and our 1099s are late. That is not on us, that is on the software giant we paid to provide accounting solutions to keep us in compliance with IRS regulations. Without the 1099s, the IRS remains unaware of earnings by contractors. I have never heard of anyone penalized for filing 1099s late. Better late than never.
